A Nightmare On Elm Street Trailer is Incredibly Freaky

It’s been 25 years since the original A Nightmare On Elm Street freaked people out. And since then, we’ve had something like 6 Elm Street movies, if I’m not wrong. Well, next year, we will be getting the reimagining/remake/reboot (whatever they call it these days) of the original.

The best part of the new one will definitely be the actor playing Freddy Krueger – Jackie Earle Haley. Having played Rorschach brilliantly in Watchmen just earlier this year, I cannot think of a better actor to play the infamous Freddy. Check out the trailer below to see for yourself.

A Nightmare On Elm Street is produced by Michael Bay and directed by Samuel Bayer and is slated for release in America April 30. No word of a Malaysian release date just yet.

The Princess and the Frog Poster

A couple of days ago Disney released the poster for their film The Princess and the Frog, which, of course, marks the return of hand-drawn animation. Check out the poster below.

Expect The Princess and the Frog to hit theaters December 10.

Clip From Michael Jackson’s This Is It

This Is It is about the last few weeks of Michael Jackson’s life when he was hard at work rehearsing for his This Is It concerts in London. During that time, AEG Live, the organizing company recorded some 80 hours of MJ’s rehearsals. Since his death, Sony Pictures bought the rights to the rehearsal footage and have edited it into a movie that is set for release October 28 (29 in Malaysia) and will be in cinemas for a limited period of two weeks only, after which will go straight to DVD.

Just recently, the trailer to the documentary styled movie was premiered at the 2009 MTV VMAs and was then made available online. You can watch the trailer here. But now, Sony Pictures have released a short 45 second video clip of Michael Jackson rehearsing the dance steps for his song Human Nature with director, Kenny Ortega looking on. You can watch the clip below.

It still amazes me every time I see footage from the rehearsals. And it's awesome to hear Michael Jackson singing live with no music. Anyhoo, this clip has definitely made me more impatient to catch the movie.

The film tells the story of Max, a rambunctious and sensitive boy who feels misunderstood at home and escapes to where the Wild Things are. Max lands on an island where he meets mysterious and strange creatures whose emotions are as wild and unpredictable as their actions. The Wild Things desperately long for a leader to guide them, just as Max longs for a kingdom to rule. When Max is crowned king, he promises to create a place where everyone will be happy. Max soon finds, though, that ruling his kingdom is not so easy and his relationships there prove to be more complicated than he originally thought.

First Look At Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith In Kung-Fu Kid

When I first heard about our favorite The Karate Kid would be remade I was like “Oh no”. When I heard that Jackie Chan would play Mr. Miyagi and Jayden Smith as the kid, Daniel LaRusso, I was like “Oh noeeessssssss”.

Luckily they’ve decided to change it up a bit and now the official title is Kung-Fu Kid. It makes things a little better. The deal is that Dre (Hayden Smith) is a video game-loving skateboarder who’s forced to move to China with his mother (Taraji P. Henson). Dre finds it hard to settle in and doesn’t understand or speak Mandarin. He gets beat up and as a result receives kung-fu training from maintenance man, Mr. Han (Jackie Chan) and Mandarin lessons.

These two pictures are the first to come out of the set of the film. In the picture below, at first glance I thought Jackie Chan looked like Sly Stallone. Right?

Kung-Fu Kid is directed by Harald Zwart and produced by Jaden Smith’s dad, mega-star Will Smith. The film will get a US release on June 11th of next year. There’s no news on a Malaysian release date just yet.

I'm Really Happy For You And Imma Let You Finish But Paranormal Activity Has One Of The Scariest Trailers Of All Time

OK so I'm no Kanye. But it is a cool MEME and I'm loving it. Back to Paranormal Activity, it looks like a genuinely scary movie. If you're not freaked out by this trailer, you're not human. Check it out below.

Aaaaah. I get so freaked out every time I see that trailer. And I've seen it like 10 times already. Now I really cannot wait for it to come out. Unfortunately there is no news of local distribution of the film yet. Fingers crossed!

15Malaysia: Rojak!

We’ve come to the end of the 15Malaysia series of short films and the last one is called Rojak! The entire short is made to look like vector graphics and is quite nice to watch. Feels something like A Scanner Darkly, which I love.

A Rojak seller’s take on Malaysia’s multi-faceted social political tapestry. Made entirely with CGI special effects. Visually stunning.

15Malaysia: Lollipop

The penultimate short film of the 15Malaysia project is called Lollipop and is another one I didn’t seem to like. Directed by Nam Rom and starring Bront Palare it is a haunting portrayal of a pedophile preparing to hunt, interspersed with metaphors on the state of Malaysian politics.

15Malaysia: Healthy Paranoia

One thing I really love about 15Malaysia is how it’s introduced me to the talent that is Baki Zainal. Prior to this project I barely knew of him but now I’m definitely a fan. He was brilliant in Meter and is again excellent in Healthy Paranoia. Incredibly funny. Check him out along with Dato’ Sri Liow Tiong Lai and Nick Dorian below.

An over-zealous public relations consultant advises the current minister of health how to discourage unhealthy lifestyles in Malaysia.
