First Trailer for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

The first time I saw Jake Gyllenhaal as Prince Dastan, I almost puked in my mouth. But now that I’ve seen the trailer, things are looking up. First off, I think he manages to pulls off the British accent and he does all the action-ey stuff with a lot of pazzaz. Actually, I didn't even know Persians spoke with British accents. =p

As for other parts of the trailer, I thought every thing was brilliant. If the movie is even remotely as good as the game it’s based off, we’ll be in for a great treat come the release of the film. With the future of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise looking very bleak, Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer are looking for another franchise to make serious box office for them. And they just might have made it with Prince of Persia. You’ve got to admit the trailer was very Pirates-esque. Just look at the similarities so far- tons of huge action sequences; hints of comedy here and there; charismatic lead actor/character that will have all the girl’s will go GAGA.

In any case, the trailer is a very good one. As for the movie, we’ll just have to wait and see. Here’s the trailer embedded below. Enjoy!

From the team that brought the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy to the big screen, Walt Disney Pictures, director of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Mike Newell and Jerry Bruckheimer Films present Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, an epic action-adventure set in the mystical lands of Persia. A rogue prince (Jake Gyllenhaal) reluctantly joins forces with a mysterious princess (Gemma Arterton) and together, they race against dark forces to safeguard an ancient dagger capable of releasing the Sands of Time—a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world.

Trailer for Martin Scorsese’s Shutter Island

Be warned. The trailer you are about so see is extremely epic. Why? Because Shutter Island is directed by one of the best directors in Hollywood, and the lead role is played by one of my favorite actors, Leonardo DiCaprio. His acting skills are impeccable, and he does different accents very well. The film also features acclaimed actors Sir Ben Kingsley, Mark Ruffalo, Emily Mortimer, and Jackie Earle Haley, fresh from his brilliant performance in Watchmen, in which he played Rorschach. I got goosebumps watching this trailer. You might get them too. Enjoy.

It's 1954, and up-and-coming U.S. marshal Teddy Daniels is assigned to investigate the disappearance of a patient from Boston's Shutter Island Ashecliffe Hospital. He's been pushing for an assignment on the island for personal reasons, but before long he wonders whether he hasn't been brought there as part of a twisted plot by hospital doctors whose radical treatments range from unethical to illegal to downright sinister. Teddy's shrewd investigating skills soon provide a promising lead, but the hospital refuses him access to records he suspects would break the case wide open. As a hurricane cuts off communication with the mainland, more dangerous criminals "escape" in the confusion, and the puzzling, improbable clues multiply, Teddy begins to doubt everything - his memory, his partner, even his own sanity. (IMDb)

Shutter Island gets an American release October 2. Expect it here in Malaysia early December.
