More Where The Wild Things Are Character Posters

The film tells the story of Max, a rambunctious and sensitive boy who feels misunderstood at home and escapes to where the Wild Things are. Max lands on an island where he meets mysterious and strange creatures whose emotions are as wild and unpredictable as their actions. The Wild Things desperately long for a leader to guide them, just as Max longs for a kingdom to rule. When Max is crowned king, he promises to create a place where everyone will be happy. Max soon finds, though, that ruling his kingdom is not so easy and his relationships there prove to be more complicated than he originally thought.

Now that the summer movie season is over, you might wonder what movies coming out before the year’s up are worth being excited for. Well other than the no-brainer Avatar, you should be very excited for Spike Jonze’s big-screen adaptation of Where The Wild Things Are. Here are four very cool brand new character posters.

Where the Wild Things Are is directed by visionary filmmaker Spike Jonze, of films like Being John Malkovich and Adaptation previously as well as numerous famous music videos as well. The screenplay was co-written by Spike Jonze and author Dave Eggers, a former Salon.com editor who also wrote Sam Mendes' Away We Go. This is based on Maurice Sendak's beloved children's book of the same name.

American theaters will get Where the Wild Things Are October 16 but Malaysians will need to wait until November 19 to experience the fantasy.

Where The Wild Things Are is an upcoming film adaptation of the popular illustrated children's book written by Maurice Sendak of the same title. At the helm of this film is Spike Jonze, well-known for directing music videos and commercials as well as Being John Malkovich and Adaptiation.

The film is about a boy and his imagination. Max is punished by his mom after misbehaving. Having been sent to his room, he begins to create an imaginary land made up of forest and ocean. In this place he discovers imaginary monsters called the Wild Things and they end up making him their leader.

Where The Wild Things Are premieres in the States on October 16, 2009 and in Malaysia on November 19, 2009. Check out the cool posters and trailer below.
