Moose (Adam G.Sevani) who missed his flight back to Baltimore when the Maryland School of Arts (MSA) goes to Paris for an international dance competition. He soon makes friends with an American away from home and beautiful French sophisticate. They introduce Moose to the red-hot Parisian underground dance scene, and before long he is wowing the local dancers with his unique moves as they prepare for an underground dance competition. With time running out before the big event and their routine stolen by a rival crew, Moose turns to his loyal MSA crew in Baltimore for help.

Can Moose, the MSA crew and the French crew pull together a new dance number at the last minute? And will it be good enough to beat the world’s best street dancers? Will Moose kiss the frog?

Personally I’m super excited for this movie. Forget the plot. Forget the characters. Forget the dancing. Think of the 3D. I know I’ve said I hate all these gimmicky 3D movies of late, but Step Up 3D will be different.

There are essentially three types of 3D movies in cinemas right now:

  1. Film shot in 2D and later converted into 3D
  2. Film created in 3D and exported in 3D (eg. animations)
  3. CG effects combined with #1 above (eg. Avatar)

Step Up 3D won’t be anything like these because the film was actually shot using proper 3D cameras. So expect an incredible cinematic experience when you watch the movie.

All you have to do to stand a chance to win these free preview passes to the movie is become a fan of Friendster Fizz and post a comment stating why you would love to win those passes. Like these peeps right here.

Is This Really It?

Michael Jackson in "This Is It."

*EDIT: This contest is now closed. Thank you to all who posted your entries. The two winners will be contacted really soon. As for everyone else, you have one last chance to win some tickets from JoshuaOngYS.com*

Michael Jackson really is gone and will definitely be missed. But is this really it for the King of Pop? I think not. His music has always had the ability to inspire millions all over the world. Now that the greatest entertainer to have ever lived is no longer here, his work will most definitely live on and will be heard and loved by many generations to come. So, I ask you, do you remember the time you first danced around your room to a Michael Jackson tune?

Tragically, this incredibly talented human being lost his life back in June of this year and nobody will see him perform ever again. In the months leading up to his death, Michael Jackson was hard at work rehearsing for his 50-date gig at the O2 Arena in London. The concerts were said to be his final curtain call and it was a chance for fans to catch him live one last time. Unfortunately, that one last time never came to be.

Almost immediately after MJ’s death, we learned that AEG Live, the concert organizers recorded over 100 hours worth of rehearsal footage. Soon after that, Sony Pictures had bought the rights to the footage and were to edit it into a feature film.

Michael Jackson This Is It, which documents MJ’s final days as he rehearses for his This Is It concerts in London, hits cinemas worldwide simultaneously (October 29 here in Malaysia) and will only stay in theaters for a limited two weeks. After which, will go to DVD.

Michael Jackson fans in America camped in line for as long as three days before the tickets went on sale back in September. As for Malaysian fans, they’ve had to wait until October 15 to get their hands on This Is It tickets. In the first day of sales here, 10,000 tickets were snapped up and over 20,000 have been sold to date.

So this is where it gets good. I am giving away 2 pairs of special passes to the Malaysian premiere screening of Michael Jackson This Is It happening October 28 which is a whole day before the rest of Malaysia gets to see it. This is, of course, all thanks to Sony Pictures Malaysia. Here are the full details of the special screening:

MJ - This Is It Special Poster

Michael Jackson This Is It Premiere Screening
Date: October 28, 2009 (Wednesday)
Time: 9.30PM
Venue: Cathay Cineplex, e@Curve (formerly known as Cineleisure)

Here is exactly what you have to do if you want to be one of the two people getting a pair of these passes. I want to know what is your favorite Michael Jackson song and why. Your submission can be a simple one-line comment on this blog post, or you could write your own blog post and insert the link in the comments section of this post. When commenting, please make sure you give me your full name, the link to your blog post (if you choose to do it that way) as well as your E-mail address so that you can be contacted if you win the passes.

The 2 commenters with the best and most creative comments will each win a pair of passes. Almost anything goes, just as long as you stick to the question “What is your favorite Michael Jackson song and why?”. So go wild! The comments will be judged by the organizers and their decision is final.

This contest will be open for only two days so hurry up and submit your comment/blog post. Any submission after 12.00AM Sunday (October 25) will not be considered. Also, any incomplete submission (e.g. without E-mail address) will be rejected. The winners will be announced and contacted on October 27 (Tuesday).

So good luck! If you do win, I will see you at the screening on Wednesday. By the way, make sure you stay back until the end of the credits for some nice Easter eggs. Also, you can head on over to Joshua Ong’s blog to try to win the This Is It passes there.

District 9 Compilation Post

I have done a couple of posts on District 9 already but since Nuffnang are giving out passes to a special screening, I thought I’d blog about it one more time, including as much promotional and informational material for the movie as possible. If you want to see my past posts on District 9, click here.

Before I talk about anything else, watch this teaser trailer. If you haven’t got a clue what District 9 is about, this will blow your mind to the back of the room.

Now that your mind is probably blown, I can tell you guys what District 9 is about. The plot is simple. The movie is set in Johannesburg, South Africa, where aliens landed some many years ago. Unlike aliens in other movies, these aliens want to go home in peace. However, the South African government are preventing them from returning home. Instead, the aliens are held captive on Earth. They are quarantined and kept separated from humans in an area called District 9.

Let’s check out some of it’s posters and banners for their viral advertising campaign.

Since District 9 is shot with a fictional-documentary feel to it, the movie’s marketing department tried to replicate this feeling in the real world by putting up billboards and banners on the streets in the States to make it seem as if aliens really were living on Earth.

If you’re thinking you’re falling behind the movie scene because you have no idea who the actors are or who’s directing, no to worry because they are relatively unknown names. The movie is directed by South African native, Neill Blomkamp. He is the guy who was supposed to helm the Halo movie that has yet to become anything yet. People were speculative of Blomkamp and his abilities, seeing as he’s never directed a feature length movie before. So to prove himself worthy of directing the Halo movie, he’s directed District 9. The only big name in this movie is, of course, Peter Jackson, director of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Neill Blomkamp is supposedly Peter Jackson’s good friend and apprentice. Peter Jackson is producing this movie in support of his friend.

District 9 is actually based on a short film that was written and directed by Neill Blomkamp. Check the short film out for yourself below. It’s called Alive in Joburg.

So far, what we have seen from District 9 in their trailers and viral marketing schemes, this seems to be the most intriguing movie of the year, for me. With that been said, trailers really suck you in and may portray a movie to be much better than it really is. So we’ll just have to wait and see. Below is the 2nd as latest trailer for the movie where more is explained with some action scenes.

I am so excited for this movie, words cannot even explain. Here are some cool links that are associated with the movie.

I Simply Cannot Get Enough of Transformers

So why am I so crazy about Transformers? Question should be, how can anybody not be crazy about Transformers? The first movie was possibly the most EPIC movie ever and now the sequel looks even better. Let's go through a few reasons why we all can't get enough of Transformers.

TRANSFORMERS
Michael Bay. Transformers and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen are both directed by him. He is one of the most awesome directors in Hollywood and he's worked on some of the biggest movies like Bad Boys, Armageddon, The Rock and Pearl Harbor. If you want to see things blow up and go BOOM!, then Michael Bay's your man. He is, in fact, the main man. I Can’t Get Enough Of Transformers.

Spielberg_color

Steven Spielberg. Undoubtedly one of the most influential people in Hollywood, Steven Spielberg is the Executive Producer of the Transformers franchise and we have him to thank for it. I Can’t Get Enough Of Transformers.

orci-kurtzman-supes

Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci. They are Hollywood biggest and hottest writing duo right now. They wrote the script for the first Transformers, Transformers 2, Mission: Impossible III as well as this summer’s biggest movie so far, Star Trek. I Can’t Get Enough Of Transformers.

3246694317_4969258ab2

Takara Tomy and Hasbro. If the Japanese toymakers Takara Tomy didn’t create the Transformers toyline and didn’t have Hasbro bring it to America, we would have never had these amazing movies. I Can’t Get Enough Of Transformers.

shia

Shia LeBeouf. He plays Sam Witwicki. How can we not love Shia LeBeouf? He went from the lame Even Stevens to a big action star. The girls who aren’t swooning over Robert Pattinson and Zac Efron love him and guys want to be him. I Can’t Get Enough Of Transformers.

megan

Megan Fox. She plays Mikaela, Sams girlfriend in the movie. Guys love her. Girls hate her. I don’t think she can really act, but she makes for a good damsel in distress in the movies. I Can’t Get Enough Of Transformers.

003542548117[3]

Isabel Lucas. This relatively unknown Australian actress plays Alice, Sam’s new love interest when he goes to college. Watch out Mikaela, you’ve got competition. I Can’t Get Enough Of Transformers.

TRANSFORMERS

Josh Duhamel. He’s a cool guy. And the girls love him. He plays one of the macho roles in the Transformers movies- Captain Lennox. I Can’t Get Enough Of Transformers.

TRANSFORMERS

Optimus Prime. He’s the main robot, the big guy, the good guy. The leader of the Autobots and the coolest robot in the Transformers franchise. I Can’t Get Enough Of Transformers.

megatron

Megatron. Michael Bay said that Megatron won’t be in Revenge of the Fallen but it’s been since confirmed that he is. I think Megatron completes Optimus Prime and the franchise, don’t you? I Can’t Get Enough Of Transformers.

hr_Transformers-_Revenge_of_the_Fallen_38

The Fallen. This is only one of a few pictures of The Fallen so far as the makers of the movie want to keep it’s role in the movie as secretive as they can. But from what I see, The Fallen looks absolutely incredible. I Can’t Get Enough Of Transformers.

devastator

Devastator. Supposedly the biggest robot in the movie, Devastator looks massive in the shots that I’ve seen. And what is a Transformers movie if you don’t have not one, not two, but three bad guys? I Can’t Get Enough Of Transformers.

Bumblebee

Bumblebee. If there was a robot that could win the most lovable robot award, it would definitely be Bumblebee. Sam’s faithful ride/friend/pet robot Bumblebee is funny and cute but aggressive, protective and awesome when he needs to be. Check out all the other robots that will be making appearances in Revenge of the Fallen. I Can’t Get Enough Of Transformers.

Action shots and explosions. The thing that made the first Transformers movie so epic was that there was plenty of big explosions, great SFX and great action scenes. Love it. I Can’t Get Enough Of Transformers.

Linkin-Park-New-Divide-Official-Single-Cover-linkin-park-6281236-412-412

Linkin Park. My favorite rock band ever is doing the music for Transformers once again. For the first movie, they’re single “What I’ve Done” was the soundtrack and now, for Revenge of the Fallen, they have created a new single called “New Divide”. I Can’t Get Enough Of Transformers.

If you think that all that is not enough, here are some of the cool posters and trailers for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

I Can’t Get Enough Of Transformers.

You still can’t get enough of Transformers either? Then check out the 5 TV spots I posted just days ago.

I can’t get enough of Transformers, I even check out the trailers of the rip-off movies like Transmorphers: Fall of Man.

I Can’t Get Enough Of Transformers.

Finally, in a last ditch attempt to reinforce the fact that I Simply Cannot Get Enough of Transformers, check this link out. Since the start of this blog, I’ve posted 19 (NINETEEN) posts about Transformers, this post being the 19th one.

If you read all the way until the end, it means you can’t get enough of Transformers either. And I thank you for reading.
