Movies Opening This Week

Interested in catching a brand new film this weekend? This is the movie of the week; a remake of a 1951 sci-fi movie by the same name, The Day The Earth Stood Still. Still a cheesy name I say. But you never know, it might be another War Of The Worlds. I say this because both movies share a similar genre which is world disaster and collapse at the hands of aliens or something like that. You get the picture. So lets jump straight into the preview shall we?

Plot
Klaatu (Reeves), is an alien from a planet that has gone through drastic and terrible climate change. He comes to Earth to evaluate the environmental situation and to see whether humans can prevent the damage caused. Once he determines that Earth is beyond saving, the option of exterminating the human species arises. This is where Helen Benson (Connelly) comes in to 'save the day'. She and her stepson (Jaden Smith) tries to talk Klaatu into believing that the human race is worth saving.

In my opinion, its a lame plot. In words. What I'm really hoping for is amaazing acting from Keanu. And I think he'll deliver. This seems like a role fit for him. Another thing I'm looking for is great effects. Of course. In movies like these, great special effects are a must.
