A car chase scene went terribly wrong Monday morning when a black Ferrari lost control and jumped the curb to smash into a Sbarro's in Times Square, New York. Two injuries were reported when a woman was knocked over and a street light fell on another bystander. Both were taken to Bellevue Hospital and are said to have only minor injuries. The stunt driver who was driving the Ferrari escaped unharmed.
The scene was being shot on a street closed off to public for the filming of Nicolas Cage's new movie, The Sorcerer's Apprentice which is a live-action adaptation of the Disney classic Fantasia.
The Ferrari was in pursuit of a Mercedes swerved in and out of traffic before before losing control and hitting the sidewalk.
The incident was caught on tape and was submitted to the New York Post. I've embedded the video below.
The Sorcerer's Apprentice is slated for release July 16, 2010.
