I think I have covered almost all the possible blockbusters for this year in the special four-part 2009 Summer Blockbuster preview, with the exception of Brüno which you can check out here. To see the four posts I did on the summer blockbusters, click here, here, here or here.
So I was watching the Totally Rad Show earlier and the guys on the show had their annual summer blockbusters wager. Each of them named their top ten summer movies in the order that they thought the movies would gross in the US from highest to lowest. People who watch the show know what I'm talking about. Anyway, since I think I've previewed all the possible summer blockbusters for this year, I'm going to go ahead and name my top ten. Remember this is according to highest predicted gross to lowest predicted gross in the US.
1. Star Trek
2. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
3. Terminator Salvation
4. Up
5. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
6. Angels & Demons
7. X-Men Origins: Wolverine
8. Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs
9. Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian
10. Land of the Lost
Possible Dark Horses/Wildcards:
G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra
Brüno
The Hangover
Surprising that Wolverine is in 7th place right? I know it got $87 million in its opening weekend but I don't think its going to keep going that way with Star Trek coming to theaters this week. Especially when Wolverine hasn't gotten great reviews and Star Trek has. And since Star Trek is one of the earliest to be released, its got the whole summer to rack up some significant numbers at the Box Office. I think the movie appeals to non-Trekkies, thats why I think it will do good.
So what do you think? Think my list is bad? Is it bold? Am I out of my mind? Or do you think I'm spot on? Let me know. Or even give me your predicted list. Any way, this is all for fun.
