Is This Really It?

Michael Jackson in "This Is It."

*EDIT: This contest is now closed. Thank you to all who posted your entries. The two winners will be contacted really soon. As for everyone else, you have one last chance to win some tickets from JoshuaOngYS.com*

Michael Jackson really is gone and will definitely be missed. But is this really it for the King of Pop? I think not. His music has always had the ability to inspire millions all over the world. Now that the greatest entertainer to have ever lived is no longer here, his work will most definitely live on and will be heard and loved by many generations to come. So, I ask you, do you remember the time you first danced around your room to a Michael Jackson tune?

Tragically, this incredibly talented human being lost his life back in June of this year and nobody will see him perform ever again. In the months leading up to his death, Michael Jackson was hard at work rehearsing for his 50-date gig at the O2 Arena in London. The concerts were said to be his final curtain call and it was a chance for fans to catch him live one last time. Unfortunately, that one last time never came to be.

Almost immediately after MJ’s death, we learned that AEG Live, the concert organizers recorded over 100 hours worth of rehearsal footage. Soon after that, Sony Pictures had bought the rights to the footage and were to edit it into a feature film.

Michael Jackson This Is It, which documents MJ’s final days as he rehearses for his This Is It concerts in London, hits cinemas worldwide simultaneously (October 29 here in Malaysia) and will only stay in theaters for a limited two weeks. After which, will go to DVD.

Michael Jackson fans in America camped in line for as long as three days before the tickets went on sale back in September. As for Malaysian fans, they’ve had to wait until October 15 to get their hands on This Is It tickets. In the first day of sales here, 10,000 tickets were snapped up and over 20,000 have been sold to date.

So this is where it gets good. I am giving away 2 pairs of special passes to the Malaysian premiere screening of Michael Jackson This Is It happening October 28 which is a whole day before the rest of Malaysia gets to see it. This is, of course, all thanks to Sony Pictures Malaysia. Here are the full details of the special screening:

MJ - This Is It Special Poster

Michael Jackson This Is It Premiere Screening
Date: October 28, 2009 (Wednesday)
Time: 9.30PM
Venue: Cathay Cineplex, e@Curve (formerly known as Cineleisure)

Here is exactly what you have to do if you want to be one of the two people getting a pair of these passes. I want to know what is your favorite Michael Jackson song and why. Your submission can be a simple one-line comment on this blog post, or you could write your own blog post and insert the link in the comments section of this post. When commenting, please make sure you give me your full name, the link to your blog post (if you choose to do it that way) as well as your E-mail address so that you can be contacted if you win the passes.

The 2 commenters with the best and most creative comments will each win a pair of passes. Almost anything goes, just as long as you stick to the question “What is your favorite Michael Jackson song and why?”. So go wild! The comments will be judged by the organizers and their decision is final.

This contest will be open for only two days so hurry up and submit your comment/blog post. Any submission after 12.00AM Sunday (October 25) will not be considered. Also, any incomplete submission (e.g. without E-mail address) will be rejected. The winners will be announced and contacted on October 27 (Tuesday).

So good luck! If you do win, I will see you at the screening on Wednesday. By the way, make sure you stay back until the end of the credits for some nice Easter eggs. Also, you can head on over to Joshua Ong’s blog to try to win the This Is It passes there.

Favourite MJ song - Rock With You

Great song have always loved his music, there has not been many that was as smart and clever, that could sing and dance to his own music, and you know there was a message in his songs..
However this is one soothing song that particularly brings me freaking good childhood MJ fanboy memories.. Great lyrics, but the best part about the song is the melody =]

Helloooo :)

My favourite MJ song?
Earth Song

Why?
Okay. Many of my friends never heard of this song before, no idea why... I thought it's quite popular. It's one of my personal favourites among MJ's songs :) Earth song basically portrays how human misuse the environment given by mother nature and how terrible the condition of our Earth is now. A very good wake-up call for all of us human. Other than that, the MV is superb! It was named as one of the top 40 most expensive music video on MTV too!!!

Oh, every karaoke sessions with my karaoke buddies will not end without Earth Song! And this is what happens during Earth Song session in the karaoke room...

My favorite MJ song would definitely be "Heal the World".

I think it's a great song cause it actually means something. It tells people how corrupted and sad the world is and is in need of help and love heals all things.
That's really touching and meaningful to me unlike songs of Lady Gaga for example(not that her songs aren't nice but it hardly has any meaning to it).

MJ, may he rest in peace. :)
Kudos to him.

my favorite MJ song is of course Thriller. to me thriller is THE best song by MJ. that song is such a contemporary song that in 50 years coming people will still be listening to that song and will get up from their seat and just wanna get down like MJ did. the music is dark yet is fun and people love to listening and sing the song. and the music video is just awesome. with the special effects and awesome make up. and the dance moves are so epic. even until this day people will still dance like he did in the video. even little kids. and that song also put MJ on top of the world and made MJ what he is to. i mean awesome and famous not dead. plus, it is hard to find a cover version of that song of the radio by other artist because i think that this song was made especially for him to be sung by him. and lastly, the vincet price's voice. i mean, listening to that song with vincent price voice in it made me wanna piss my pants.

so, that is my favorite MJ song. that song will always make him alive until today.

Hmm, tough choice but my favorite MJ song is 'You Are Not Alone'.

The main reason why I love this song so much is because I understand the lyrics very very well, perhaps it's because I've been through the times where I feel that I'm truly alone.

Whenever I feel lonely and isolated, I listen to this song and it never fails to uplift my spirit. Humming through the simple yet meaningful lyrics, listening to the mellifluous tune, It reminds me that although me & my bf are far away(he is in USA), he'll always be in my heart, and therefore, I'm not alone.

''But you are not alone
For I am here with you
Though were far apart
Youre always in my heart
But you are not alone''

Hi Mike and Sony Pictures Malaysia,

How are you doing? I have lots of Michael Jackson's songs which are my favourites. Just like a Mom would say, how could I choose one among all my 'children'... :)

Hmmm....after some hard thought, though I know this would be an uncommon (or even bizarre like the man himself) choice ..... my choice would be ..... History !

Needless to say, this is my favourite subject in school. You see, to me, history is an unbiased collection of facts, can be important in the future for the same reasons as it is today. People need to study history because time and time again it has been proven that history repeats itself. By looking human civilization throughout history this repetition is evident.....we all should learn from it and not make the same mistake...like what is happening now in this world :( Besides, how can the human race know where it’s going without knowing where it’s been?

Just like lyrics in the song, History;

"..Every day create your history
Every path you take you're leaving your legacy
Every soldier dies in his glory
Every legend tells of conquest and liberty
Every day create your history
Every page you turn you're writing your legacy.."

We all still can 'make that change' (this phrase also taken from another MJ song, do you know which one?) no matter who and where we are. Every single one of us can make a difference without we're knowing it. Just remember when you wake up every morning, to 'Every day create your history'. How so true....

Hello mike...
thanks for this chance and opportunity...
I really love 'Heal the world' by Michael Jackson because whenever I hear it, it will bring goosebumps to me... It is really touching and sometimes can make my tears fall down. Remembering Michael which he has a great heart in giving charity to all the needy people.. He has feelings for them. His music is not only about music but upon bringing one nation to come up together and help these people. I love Michael Jackson. No one ever can replace him.

Thanks Mike

The man whom created history of his own but eventually left a legacy behind millions of fans around the world. No one can deny the fact that he is the King of Pop. Undeniably, a library of collection of his songs can only be mean one thing - a sure hits after hits and after hits.

What is my favourite MJ's song? Plenty but I particularly like this one - Man In The Mirror.

Man In The Mirror was not only number 1 on US Billboard or receiving nomination for Grammy's Record Of The Year for nothing. Man In The Mirror was not merely about the image on the other side of the mirror.

In the lights of the video which featured some of the world prominent figures and events, Man In The Mirror tells the world about who we really is? When we see the world out there filled with troubles in the hands of the children in Africa, the political instability, religious stand in differences, or merely the death of a prominent leader whom we hoped would bring forward the change for our aging world, what do we see?

On this piece of mirror, we see images of ourselves in a distorted, greedy and selfishness - the sins among the humanity. But beyond that, we see images of hope, passion and humanity as well. Men are one form of life that contains the good and evil. But ask yourselves this - what do we see when we look through the mirror?
